Eric Steager, Vice President

As Vice President, Mr. Steager is actively involved in all phases of the execution of GPX Enterprises transactions, including sourcing, negotiation, structuring, and due diligence.  He is also involved in the oversight and management of GPX portfolio companies.

Prior to joining GPX in 2007, Mr. Steager was a Senior Associate with Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. (NYSE: SFE), a Wayne, PA-based publicly traded holding company, where he was responsible for various aspects of the execution of venture capital transactions and acquisitions. While at Safeguard, Mr. Steager participated in information technology transactions valued at more than $225 million.

Mr. Steager has significant finance and transactional experience with many of the country’s leading firms. This experience included leveraged buyout finance, with a total transactional value in excess of $5 billion, as a member of Bank One’s Principal Investor Group; and healthcare and industrial M&A and corporate restructuring with Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin and Ernst & Young, totaling in excess of $2 billion of transaction value. Prior to Safeguard, Mr. Steager was a founding member of an investment fund focused on acquiring middle market manufacturing companies in the Midwestern United States.  Mr. Steager began his career conducting valuation analysis with Capital Valuation Group, a healthcare consulting and valuation firm. 

Mr. Steager holds a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University and an M.B.A. with honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
