Michael A. Peterson, President & Co-Founder
As President and Co-Founder of GPX Enterprises, L.P. and its affiliates, Michael Peterson brings a unique combination of vast and distinguished corporate finance expertise, as well as significant leadership and hands-on operating experience of highly successful corporations.
Mr. Peterson most recently served as Executive Vice President – Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, and a Director of ATX Communications, Inc., a publicly traded communications company. At ATX, he was responsible for many significant operational and financial achievements over a multi-year period, including improving the Company's profitability by more than $120 million on an annual basis, and the successful recapitalization of approximately $800 million of debt and preferred stock. Mr. Peterson was a founding member of the executive management team of CoreComm Limited, a publicly traded communications business, which he merged with ATX in 2000.
Prior to joining CoreComm and ATX, Mr. Peterson was the Director of Corporate Development for NTL Incorporated, a publicly traded international cable and telecommunications company. During this period, he led and managed many significant corporate finance transactions, including debt and equity financings and mergers and acquisitions totaling several billion dollars. During his tenure, NTL became the largest cable company in the United Kingdom, with more than $15 billion of invested capital.
Mr. Peterson was also a member of the management teams of Cellular Communications International, Inc., which was sold to Olivetti SpA and Mannesmann AG for $1.7 billion in 1999, and Cellular Communications of Puerto Rico, Inc., which was sold to SBC Communications Inc. for approximately $800 million in 1999.
Prior to joining NTL, Mr. Peterson had a successful career in corporate finance at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, which has since been acquired by Credit Suisse First Boston. Here, he completed a wide range of successful transactions totaling several billion dollars, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, initial public offerings and high yield debt transactions. His clients included, among others: AT&T, Barnes & Noble, Marvel Entertainment Group, Comcast Corporation, and Cellular Communications, Inc.
Mr. Peterson is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and served as a board member of the American Heart Association.
Mr. Peterson graduated Magna Cum Laude and with Honors from Brown University, where he was awarded the Taubman Prize for his thesis. He received his Master's degree from the London School of Economics. |
